Open Source Software in the content areas is plentiful, but it is especially well developed in mathematics and science. Mathematicians and scientists have been creating their own tools and sharing them with others since the earliest days of computing. | R is an environment and language for performing statistical analysis. It includes a wide variety of statistical tools such as linear and nonlinear modeling, classical statistics tests, time-series analysis, classification, and clustering. It is not an application for statistics novices, but it can be a powerful tool for more advanced high school courses in mathematics, the natural sciences, and the social sciences. |
